“Bee Story”

October 10 is the founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).

Our Party has left its mark of 78-year-long history, the longest one in the history of the socialist ruling parties. Just at this moment of greeting the founding anniversary of our Party, our people are looking back with deep emotion the great personality of President Kim Il Sung who strengthened and developed our Party into a seasoned and experienced revolutionary party and into an invincible one that enjoys absolute support and trust of the people. He also rendered active support to the struggle of the world revolutionary people aspiring after independence and justice, teaching them in detail about ways and methods for strengthening the party.

President Kim Il Sung indicated clearly the road of the struggle for independence, including the issues arising in the building, strengthening and development of the party for the revolutionary people of many countries in the world which had newly emerged independent or waged national liberation struggle. In this course, he also left a story about bee. In the story, President Kim Il Sung gave a plain and clear answer to the fundamental principle of party building for them.

In April 1988, President Kim Il Sung met with the delegation of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania visiting our country.

At that time, the head of the delegation asked President Kim Il Sung on how to strengthen the party. Saying that strengthening it is of the utmost importance in successfully carrying out revolution and construction, he gave a clear answer by taking bee as an example.

Bees can exist because they have a center - a queen bee. Of course, it is merely a natural phenomenon showing bees’ instincts for existence. But this can be compared with the work of strengthening the party.

He said as bees live in an orderly manner forming a swarm with a queen bee in the center, a collective must have its center and be under a discipline. In order to strengthen the party, the entire party should be united firmly behind the leader and a party united in ideology and purpose will surely emerge victorious, he noted.

Looking up to the President who clearly teaches the fundamental principle of party construction by taking an example of bee’s instinct for existence, the members of the delegation, being so charmed by him, could not repress their strong feelings of admiration and excitement.
